Dave's Snowshoe Invitational Match Feb. 17, 2019
Looking at it, you may think the four of us are nuts, but if you were a part of it, you would think of the day as an unforgettable event. This was the ultimate winter therapy. Temperature when we arrived to set up was about -14C and made it up to a balmy -8C by the time we finished.
Snowshoes and a toboggan were used to get ourselves and the gear out to the course, snowshoes to set up the course and snowshoes to pack down the snow on the trail and for the shooting line. If you stepped off the trail without the snowshoes, you were in past your knees. Definitely a Canadian winter match.
We shot the 30 shot course, cleaned up and then put the snowshoes back on for the trek up to the house. Mary and Dave provided us with coffee, hot soup, buns, cold cuts and even treats for dessert. We sat in a sunroom and shot the breeze about many things for quite some time and this has become a very important element in these fun shooting days. Many thanks to Mary and Dave for their welcoming attitude and generosity.
Thanks for the use of your snowshoes, Mary; they saved me a lot of effort compared to trudging through snow with out them.
Going back to that first statement, I guess being at least a little nuts helps at most fun events like this.
