Going back to...

Post by FRANK » Tue Apr 05, 2016 3:40 pm

Well I'm going back to a springer,
PCP was fun and all but......lot's of work.

now i'm shopping for HW50S TX 200 and a WEIHRAUCH 98

I have a offer on a HW50S with left hand stock, but it's non pal so it's under 500fps.

any recomendation?

I've set my TX200 up to shoot springer this year and I'm liking it so far. I've tried the HW98, and it's nice, but I much prefer the TX200.

The spring guns that seem to take turns winning are the TX200 and the HW97. Once set up properly, I am quite convinced it is the shooter that determines the win way more than which one of the two guns they choose.

got a deal worked out for a TX200 now only need to set a time and date we already have a location to meet.
it has a vortex spring kit with it not installed.
does the Vortex kit really worth the work of installing? or I should shoot it has is?

I put a Vortek 12 ft/lb kit in mine and it really smoothed out the shot cycle. I then tried a V-Mach kit and that worked even better (and that's what I've kept in the gun). With the full power original spring the gun was shooting at about 17 ft/lbs but the shot cycle was pretty harsh !!!

I also added a Rowan Engineering trigger to mine along with a GinB stock and now it fits me so much better. It's not quite as smooth as a PCP gun (and never will be) but it's quite consistent .

I also agree with Tim, it's not the equipment, it's the person pulling the trigger that makes the difference !

so At 3pm today I took possession of a new condition Air Arms TX200
it came with a few goodies like a vortek spring kit that will be perfect power for
WFFT I will install this kit tomorrow with my friend John.

Right now this thing is shooting in the 20fpe range and way too powerful for the 12fpe rule for WFFT

I tell you this thing looks new it even came in it's original box. I can't even tell it's even been fired.
but yes it's used and the price was right.

so I instal the vortek kit and find my self a very good mount for it and instal my new replacement Falcon T50 scope on it.
I think this will be a great combo.

this combo will be ready to do it's part after the setup hoping I can do mine.

So Yesterday was the day. "John Came over"

Tested out the TX200 with original spring 10 shot string from 872 to 874fps
way too fast for WFFT so we installed the vortek kit LOL was shooting faster
but was nice to crank and fire.

So me and John took it apart one more time and cut the spring 3 rings off.
and put it back toghether and voila it was shooting at 770 to 774 fps
now that's perfect for WFFT,

we installed a scope on it and took a few shots, with a scope installed it was very awkward for me to load and crank
this air rifle is really not made for a lefty.

so now I ask my self do I live with it has is or do I sell and buy something made for a lefty?
What you guys think?

A lot of righties order a left handed action in a right handed stock. that way the gun can be loaded easily with the left hand and you do not have to move the gun as much. It should work the same way for a lefty loading the gun with the right hand and keeping your grip on the gun with your left hand.

If the stock is also right handed, that can be problematic.
