New TX200 MK3 FT Rig

Post by jgoodz » Mon Mar 06, 2017 3:39 pm

After many months of waiting, all the stars have aligned and I have 90% of my gun parts in hand and setup. I still have a lot of setup work and adjusting to do, but now I have everything required to start all that so the games can begin. I've already tuned the action, changed a few of internals, put a lightweight short stroke kit into it and lapped the barrel.

A big thanks to Jeff H for bringing the stock from the UK for me, Warren was great to deal with and so was Brian and Rowan Engineering. Rowan shipped the hamster to Warren and Brian dropped off the hook at his house free of charge. The scope rail is from AJP Engineering and they do excellent work, we had a mix up with the colour at first, but they took care of everything. Tom P has lent me his follow wing to test out with my hook, that is piece on top of the butthook with the two little fingers or wings.

Now I need to get my yardage/click marking sorted out and start spitting lead, I have only put 500-600 rounds thru this rig, I would like to have at least 1500 pellets thru it to know it is broken in.

Congrats Joel; that's one purdy rig. I hope the weather continues to cooperate and you can get outdoors to shoot. Shooting indoors is great, but you just can't beat real world conditions. WFTF Piston is shaping up to be a very competitive division this season.

I am still in the process of setting up my TX, but have been shooting it to get it all worn in after George did the barrel lapping. Thanks, George. Early signs are good and I am waiting anxiously to hear about upcoming matches at Grenville and Ottawa.

I hope you continue to update this thread as new things happen.

I still need to all my markings done before I can do too much testing, but I did all the work on the action about a month ago and ran a little over one tin of pellets through it. I have been getting out and practicing in the wind, the other day I was shooting 20-32KPH winds offhand, that was a challenge to say the least :?

I will definitely keep updating the thread as the setup/tuning progresses, I am moving into a new place soon, so I may be busy for a week or so. But the new rental backs onto a field and has tons of room to shoot, as well as large garage for indoor shooting.

I love the 'Team Canada' logo on the AJP rail!

Keep up on your training!

Almost done the range markings, I haven't decided on how to rig up the pointer for my yardage, very limited area, so I made up a quick temporary fix for now. I use pieces of bamboo that are snapped to create little fibers sticking off the end to focus on, then just lay out the tape and put a piece in the ground at all desired ranges on a slight angle and moving about 1-2" to right with each piece, it is a little difficult to see in the picture...
