August 15th, 2015 Port Match

Post by Mac » Sat Aug 08, 2015 9:48 pm

The next match of the outdoor season at Port Colborne is one week away. The match is on August 15, 2015 and will be a full 60 shot rifle FT match on either 10 or 15 lanes. I will be opening the gates at 8:00 AM to get things set up and the sight-in range should be available by 9:30 AM. The shooter's meeting will be at 10:45 and the match will start at 11:00 AM. The sight-in range will be shut down at 10:45, so be sure to get there early enough if you want some sight-in time.

All classes will be offered, but at least two shooters are needed in a CAFTA class in order to have an award.

Open Division: PCP and Piston classes (20 ft/lb max)
Hunter Division: PCP and Piston classes (20 ft/lb max)
WFTF Division: PCP and Piston classes (12 ft/lb max)
Junior Hunter Class if we have some juniors (20 ft/lb max)

Please let me know as soon as you can, or at the latest, the Wednesday morning before the match, if you will be attending. Please include what division and class you will be shooting.

See you at the Port Club.

Lots of folks on holidays I guess. Seven confirmed to attend, four in open pcp and one each in three other classes.

Anyone who skipped this one because of weather concerns, sure missed a great day and a fun match. Light breeze and low to mid 70s, pretty well ideal.

Port Colborne Field Target Club
Results for August 15, 2015

It was pouring rain when I got up and continued for most of the time I was getting ready. It stopped just before I left home and that was the end of it. The day was beautiful, with a light breeze and comfortable temperature. Eight shooters shot a full 60 shot match on 10 lanes. With groups of two, things went fairly quickly. All the pcp shooters competed in Open division and the two piston hunters were the only ones in Hunter division. August seems to be the month for family holidays.
In hunter, Tony’s scores continue to improve each match, but James shot a great match to take the top spot.
At the time awards were ordered there were not enough shooters to have separate classes in WFTF and Open, so everyone shot open pcp since they had four shooters committed to attend. Don pulled off a match high 55/60 to win the division. Dean edged me out by a point for second and Dennis and Ted followed us closely. It was great to see Lanny again after a few years away and I am sure his scores will improve quickly as he gets use to his new rig. The average difficulty rating is a little deceiving since some easy targets were balanced off with some very difficult targets, up close to the 50T level.
Thanks to those who were able to make the match and special thanks to the crew that set up lanes for the match. Everything was cleaned up and targets pulled by mid afternoon, so Ted, Don, Dennis and I headed to Minor’s Fishery where each of us feasted on a fisherman’s platter. After a great lunch and conversation to match, we all headed home quite satisfied with the day.
The next FT event will be the Ontario Provincial Match on September 19th at the Ottawa Club. Be sure to check out the CAFTA Forum for details and try your best to get there for a great day of shooting.
The Port Club will host the Elmer Fudd Hunter match on October 3rd and as always, there will be a great course set up, a hardy meal, the finest of company and a fun factor that will be way up the chart. I hope to see many of you there this year. Get those rigs set up and your aim points fine tuned.

Bit of an error in report. Next event is this upcoming weekend, a FT shoot in Grenville Sunday August 23rd. It is listed in the Match Information forum.

After that, Chris is hosting a shooting day and BBQ at HAHA on August 29th. This is listed in the HAHA Forum

Sorry guys.
