Thanks for bringing our attention to the new AAFTA Forum. Had a look and observed that their rule re HFT were basically the same a few differences were that they limit mag to 12X and Optical sights with parallax adjustment may be adjusted so that the target is in focus. Range (yardage) markings may be used.

Is there any consideration being given to bring our rules in line with theirs seeing that anyone competing in the States will be subjected to their rules?

Our Hunter rules actually predate the US rules and have been tweaked based on input from the guys who shoot the hunter division regularly. We have a discussion of hunter rules after the Fudd match each year. Last year everyone seemed satisfied with what we have.

Allowing range-finding with the scope has resulted in a real problem in the US for those wanting accurate range-finding, but not able to spend big bucks on a scope. Here, with no range-finding allowed, any decent 4-16 scope with mil-dots will do the job.

Actually dialing down your scope to 12X and being able to range-find at least out to 35 yards or so should not be much of a problem for most. You can also use a bipod that, although it cannot be attached, it can be fitted to the stock in ways that provide almost the same support as attached. This would make it easier again. A lot of the hunter guys over there are getting scores comparable to the open division; that just seems strange to me. They are allowed equipment in hunter that the open guys cannot use; go figure.

Sean, from Rochester, comes over here and competes using our rules and won the Fudd PCP class. Going the other way should be just as easy.
