Keeper indeed! That is a really good group for any gun, but for a springer probably shooting under 9 ft/lb, that is a beauty.

It was a fun day for sure. I learned a little more about my shooting position and hold and was able to tighten up my groups from the FT sitting position. Things that I was blaming the set up of the gun for, were actually just me forcing things. Even old dogs can learn new tricks.

Very nice, always nice to see how top of line equipment stands the test of time 8-)

Maybe at the Fudd this year a few of us can shoot our 300S with open sights...would be fun

I shot my 300 in the 2012 Fudd, but not with open sights. Young guys with young eyes would love to get the old guys shooting open sights against them. I'll stick with my 16X scope, thanks. :D

Not too sure that would work out very well for the 55 yd targets - you'd be lucky to see the target, let alone the kill zone - especially if that turkey head target was out there.

A few of us did try setting up a just-for-fun match last year for open sights only, with targets set at a maximum of 35 yds IIRC. Represented a pretty good challenge, and I even tried shooting the small course once through taking all shots standing offhand (and did better than I had anticipated). I think everyone managed to shoot the course at least two or three times. I for one thoroughly enjoyed that day. :)
A 35yd course would be fun for a open sights for sure, I would definitely try it with my BS C9 too, shiny and accurate 8-)

One of my favorite pass-times is shooting rifles with no sights or scope whatsoever, like aiming a shotgun but with no bead. You really get to know a gun shooting like this I find, visualize the trajectory :P The key is keep the targets quite large and work down in size. I was hitting a Gamo squirrel face-plate at 35yds consistently with my S510 LE like this after a few tries, this was after removing the Nikko I put on the day my EV2 had a blowout. Maybe one of these years ill get brave enough to try the Fudd match "no sights" that would be a riot, even more so if I could manage to knock down a target

Those results are enviable. They give an idea of how well a 300S can still shoot when there's a good shooter with the rifle.

A 300s won a bench rest title in the US. Not sure if it was the Nationals or Worlds.

They are stupidly accurate and relatively easy to shoot.
