Be aware that using this method may not result in the best possible setup. When 'leveling the scope' the objective is to actually do 2 things:
A) align the vertical line of the reticle so that it intersects with the barrel.
B) ensure the vertical line of the reticle is plumb with gravity (align the entire action so that when shooting, it is level)

The only tool that I know of that can be used to do this is this 'vertical reticle instrument'

Once I had one of these, I was startled to find out that *every* bubble level that can be attached to the the scope-rail - such as this one https://www.midwayusa.com/product/10088 ... aver-style was not level when the scope was vertical over the bore. I was able to shim them so they did align with this tool.

Unfortunately photobucket now sucks, but on the US FT sight, there's some great discussion about this:

Yes, I did use a level to align the scope. I can't remember the name of it, but it's a really cool one (and not expensive) that I ordered from the States. And all my scopes had been in need of fine-tuning the alignment.

Did you level the scope when you installed it?

1. I use a level that can be attached to the the scope-rail.
2. Put rifle in a rest and center the bubble in the level.
3. Rest scope loosely in scope rings.
4. Place plum bob at a distance around 10 yds.
5. Make sure rifle is dead level and look through scope.
6. Make sure that the vertical cross-hair is aligned perfectly with the plumb bob's string.
7. Tighten scope. Should now be level with rifle.

Might not be the best method but that's how I do it.

I am still a Newbie to the airgun world.

Tom, that Brownells adjusting tool is the one I have and use. I'd forgotten the name of it. And it does work very well.

Like you, I found that bubble levels for the scope don't always end up level. The best one I found though was a SportsMatch level and that is pretty accurate. Doesn't help with getting the scope aligned though... for that you need the Brownell's one.

Gee, what's wrong with the "Reply with Quote" feature???? Both my last replies using it have the quoted text all messed up. Sorry about that, but it's not my fault. Something's wrong.
